Adopt-a-School Campaign

Become a Sponsor · Current Sponsors ·

Each year, the Rouge Education Project (REP) raises the awareness of thousands of Metro Detroit students about the Rouge River watershed and encourages them to take action to restore and protect the river. With your help, we can continue to offer students this amazing opportunity to monitor the river and to work toward protecting and restoring it.

The Adopt-a-School Campaign is a unique school/business/community partnership aimed at improving the educational and environmental quality of communities throughout the Rouge River watershed. Businesses participate in the campaign through tax-deductible monetary donations and volunteerism. Your business’ participation in the campaign will help to sustain current participation of schools in the Rouge Education Project, expand the project into new schools, and continue to enhance the quality of the project through school-business partnerships.

Become a sponsor

Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and will benefit students in the Rouge Education Project. However, full sponsorship of an elementary school new to the project is $3400, full sponsorship of a new middle or high school is $3750, and full sponsorship of any returning school is $2200. To adopt a school by making a monetary donation to Friends of the Rouge for the Rouge Education Project, contact the Rouge Education Project Assistant Program Manager, Brianna Knoppow, at repastmgr@therouge.org to recieve a contribution form.

Businesses participating in the campaign may also become "hands-on" sponsors in a number of ways. Employees may assist teachers with the Rouge Education Project in the classroom or at the river when students conduct monitoring activities. Businesses may also work with students to increase awareness of the Rouge River in their community.
