"Spring into Spring" with healthy lawns and gardens.  Spring 2004--Free workshops and classes sponsored by SOCWA. 

"Don't Guess...Soil Test!"  - Saturday, April 3 and Sunday, April 25, 2004 at participating retailers.  $13.00 package price for MSU soil nutrient testing including:  pH, basic nutrient analysis, organic matter, and delivery to MSU lab.  Contact SOCWA for a list of participating retailers.

Healthy Lawn Care Workshop - Thursday, April 15, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:00m at the Bloomfield Township Library, 1099 Lone Pine Road at Telegraph Road.  Featured speaker:  Dr. Kevin Frank, Michigan State University turfgrass specialist.  Free.  Sponsored by SOCWA in cooperation with Rouge River watershed municipalities.  Telephone Karen Bever at SOCWA for reservations.

Ecological Gardening for the Rouge River - Monday, April 19 from 9:30am to 11:30am at the  SOCWA office and gardens located at 3910 W. Webster in Royal Oak.  Advanced gardening courses with a focus on native plants, ecological landscape practices, and rain gardens for the Rouge River.  Sponsored by SOCWA in cooperation with Rouge River watershed municipalities.  Class fee:  $20.00.  Volunteer service required.  For flyer and schedule of classes telephone Karen Bever at SOCWA or e-mail LFDean@aol.com

Feed the Earth...Compost! - Saturday, April 24 from 11:30am to 12:30 pm at Telly's Greenhouse and Garden Center located at 3301 John R.  Six easy steps for making and using home compost presented by SOCWA Master Composters.  Free.  To register, telephone SOCWA or e-mail LFDEan@aol.com

Native Trees and Shrubs for the Home Landscape - Monday, April 26 from 10:00am to 11:00am at 3910 W. Webster in Royal Oak.  Tour the SOCRRA/SOCWA Native Landscape Education Site to view a variety of native trees and shrubs suitable for the home landscape.  Tour conducted by SOCWA Ecological Gardening Volunteers.  Free but advance registration is required.
